Tranquillo flute and piano duo were formed in 2008 by Sarah Waycott (flute) and Hannah Mitchell (piano). They met whilst studying for their postgraduate diplomas in performance at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and they are both now freelance musicians known throughout Wales and Gloucestershire as they perform for concerts, recitals, festivals, weddings and much more.
They have fast built an extensive and exciting repertoire together, with music suitable for all types of occasion. Previous performances include Brecon Cathedral, Lydney Music Festival, St Briavels Music Society and the Forester Business Awards. In September 2010 Tranquillo will release their debut Christmas album.
Hannah Mitchell Hannah Mitchell is a freelance pianist based in Aberdare. After graduating from Exeter University with a first class honours degree in music, Hannah went on to study for her Postgraduate Diploma in solo performance at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. Here she studied with Michael Young, and played in a variety of masterclasses with pianists such as Bernard Roberts, Penelope Roskell, Leon McCawley and Boris Berman. She also entered the Concerto Trials and Hastings International Piano Concerto Competition with Rachmaninov's Second Piano Concerto. In 2007, Hannah won the Jacobson Prize. As well as performing with Tranquillo, Hannah now teaches at Hebron Piano School, and is the principal accompanist of Tonyrefail Ladies Choir and Côr Llanfabon Ladies Choir.
Sarah Waycott Sarah Waycott is a freelance flautist, tutor and musical director. Performing regularly as a soloist and also as part of ensembles and orchestras she is a past winner of the Bath Spa University Concerto competition and the Margaret Rose Bursary. During and since completing her studies in Bath and the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, Sarah has performed widely both in the UK and abroad including Sweden, Holland, Prague, Gibraltar and Uganda. In the past she appeared in an advert for Sky Television and performed at the London premiere of short film 'Pictures', starring Andrea Corr and Neil Pearson.
