The Asa Saxophone quartet is a professional group consisting of four saxophonists from various parts of the UK. They formed in November 2008 in their first term at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. Since their formation, they have performed in various venues, such as the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff, the Weston Gallery in the RWCMD and the National Museum of Wales. They have also won several awards, including the prestigious annual Music in the Vale award in November 2009. The quartet has also recently partaken in the National Festival of Music for Youth regional in Cwmbran, and the Royal Overseas prize in London. The Asa Saxophone quartet has a wide and varying repertoire, from classical and contemporary music to wedding receptions. Their repertoire includes arrangements of mainstream records to classical saxophone quartet works and arrangements of string quartet music, to adapt to any event. |
